Goal.com About DC & KD

I recommend you to read the whole article. but there's some good points :

Rumours of a power struggle between Dalglish, the football man who operates by gut feel, and Comolli, the lover of statistics and data, have followed the pair around since the Scot’s second coming 15 months ago.

There is a sense that Comolli wanted young players who could make a mark at Anfield and, in turn, generate a profit when they were sold. Dalglish, on the other hand, wanted British players who he could trust.

The result was an expensive compromise. The signings of Luis Suarez, Jose Enrique and Sebastian Coates all bear Comolli’s fingerprints and provide evidence that his methodology has worked.

His departure suggests Dalglish will be given this summer and a good portion of next season to re-establish a reputation diminished by the events of this calendar year.

On the other hand Dalglish said he was the only responsible for the signings.

So i dont really understand the reason behind comolli "sack", maybe was just divergences between him and KD... Anyway, hope someone high-profile comes in to replace him so we can go back to the top.

  • All speculation. We may never know the real reasons for his departure...

But the owners signed off on the deals...which means they believed the signings were value and fitted their strategy at the time.

    Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
