Liverpool Transfer Rumours: 5 Players the Reds Could Sign in January.....

From Bleacher Report

Adam Johnson

LONDON, ENGLAND - AUGUST 07: Adam Johnson and Edin Dzeko of Manchester City looks dejected after defeat in the FA Community Shield match sponsored by McDonald's between Manchester City and Manchester United at Wembley Stadium on August 7, 2011 in London,

By the time January comes around Johnson will see the writing on the wall and know there is no future for him in Manchester while Mancini is coaching.  City has so many offensive weapons that Johnson is simply superfluous in the team. However, he is very talented and deserves to be playing regularly.  He will not leave City for another team outside the top four, and he will probably not want to leave England.  The problem, though, is that City’s owners may not want to sell him to a rival. It will take a concerted effort from Johnson to push through any transfer to United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal or Tottenham.  There is probably no chance for United, he would be too expensive for Tottenham and for Arsenal (because Wenger loathes spending large sums), and Chelsea have not shown much interest in him. Liverpool would be his most likely destination in terms of his desire in a team, and Dalglish’s want in a player.

Gary Cahill

Bolton needs to either tie Cahill down or part with him in January to gain some money from his sale.  He will leave on a free next summer to one of the biggest clubs in England, but all of those clubs will be happy to pay a respectable fee in order to ensure they get him in January. There could be a bidding war between the clubs, but United, Liverpool and Arsenal all signed defenders this summer, so they will not be pressured by Bolton to pay up for him.  Tottenham wanted to sign Cahill at the last minute, but it just did not work. However, a smaller fee could see more clubs come into play in January, and depending on how Tottenham is performing, Cahill may opt to choose another club.  I expect this battle to be between Liverpool and Chelsea, but  would not be surprised if Arsenal made a move for him.

Scott Dann

Liverpool did not want to pay such a large transfer sum for a player in the Championship who was just returning from injury.  Now, Dann plays for Blackburn and he has already shown he can defend at the top level. If he keeps it up, then Liverpool may come in for him in January and offer Blackburn slightly more than the Rovers paid for him this summer.  Dann would immediately push through the move if he knew he could play for Liverpool.

Neven Subotic

This all depends on how Dortmund and Liverpool are performing this season.  Subotic has repeatedly stated his desire to play in England, but he has highlighted United and Chelsea as his targets. If Liverpool look like top-four contenders in January, then this might affect Subotic’s thinking.  I highly doubt he will leave Dortmund though, unless his side is struggling in the Bundesliga and is no longer in the Champions League.

Eden Hazard

Hazard’s future is almost becoming an obsession.  He has been linked with so many great clubs over the last season that it truly is ridiculous. He is undoubtedly a great player with so much potential, but where will he go after Lille?  It seemed for a while like he was going to join Liverpool, then Arsenal, then Inter Milan, then maybe either Madrid or Barcelona, but in the end he stayed with Lille.  After this season though, I highly doubt Hazard will stay in France. His departure could escalate if Lille is out of the Champions League and not performing well in France.  This is a similar situation to Subotic’s because it depends greatly on how both players’ clubs are performing, as well as how Liverpool is performing. Again, this transfer is unlikely, but if Liverpool are challenging for the title or at least a top-four finish, then there is a chance Hazard will opt to join the Reds.

I think Adam Johnson, Garry Cahill, Eden Hazard are more suitable
