Marco Reus: Superstar in the Making

After finishing watching German team Borussia Monchengladbach being edged out by a Cisse inspired Freiburg, there was one player who caught my eye, and was intrigued to learn more about. His name is Marco Reus.

A versatile attacker that is prominent with both feet, he can accommodate all attacking positions from centre-forward to right-wing, where he is known to ply his trade. Unpredictability is his first and foremost strength, as he is equally efficient in taking on a helpless defender, as well as whipping in an inviting cross. He also packs a vicious punch, as he is very strong shooting from almost anywhere. He can lash a powerful shot from distance, but has the delicate finesse to tuck one home from anything under 18 yards. He is very clever with his diagonal runs, and has incredible vision as he can play as a tequarista. Arguably his focal point is his immense dribbling skill, and always has a trick up his sleeve. His speed and stamina are very strong also, making him a perfect mould for the Premier League. He has notched 2 goals and 2 assists in 3 games this season, and in 71 career Monchengladbach matches, he has scored 21 and set up 15, an impressive record.

Measuring just under six-foot, Marco has played the last two consecutive games for Germany, terrorising the Turkish and Belgian defences. His direct approach has clearly impressed Joachim Loew, as he linked up well with fellow starlets Mario Goetze, Thomas Mueller and Andre Schurrle very well. He has already been dubbed the future of Germany's right-hand side, taking over from fellow Liverpool-linked winger, Marko Marin. He earned a call up while just 20 years old, but only played a fortnight ago because of last-minute illness.

He has been heavily linked with Arsenal, Juventus, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and Bayern Munich, but he has already made it clear that he will only play in a team headed forward, reportedly turning down moves to Arsenal and Bayern respectively.

I am absolutely positive that this man could be the answer to Liverpool's right-wing problems, and I am seriously urging the King to approach Monchengladbach for Mr Reus. Given the fact that he is centripetal to Borussia's plans, they will not let him go on the cheap, and a bid of 10-15m should be enough to bring him to L4. He is the future of Monchengladbach, so expect a challenge should Kenny put in a bid. But don't get me wrong- the climb will be worth it.

He is surely the future of Germany's right-hand side, and I hope he will be the future of Liverpool's. Remember the name.

  • He is a very great player in deed, might need to get a bit stronger for the premier league. He has got a buyout clause at 18m Euros next Summer. As a follower of Gladbach on regular basis, i can tell you he is probably Germany's best right winger together with Mueller, but he's got one big problem. He needs about 10 chances to score a goal. Anyway we should in deed make a move for him!
