is flanno good enough now

i first want to start by saying congrats to the lads last night. down to ten men from very early on and coming out with a win . after recent games ,that win is something i didnt see coming. but hands up, they played really well, hung in there and where brave to still try and have a go and try win the game. lets keep it going.

my blog though is about jon flannigan..this has nothing to do with his dodgy backpass last night, but after watching the recent games hes played in ,i am wondering is he good enough at this moment in time. dont get me wrong i think he has what it takes to be a great right full, but i just think he is in to deep at the moment. i dont think hes physically strong enough and tactically sound to be in the team now, especially when we are low in confidance..granted he came in last year and had a good end to the season but i think that was a combination of the team playing well and also carra beside him. when carras there he looks alot more comfortable, but with no carra there he looks a bit lost. I think kenny should send him out on loan next season and give him a real chance to to develop, to play more games and get stronger. he has the heart and determination to be a top liverpool defender and i hope kenny does whats best for him.

let me no on any thoughts on this.

  • He did have a shocking game didn't he.

Given the league position that we're now in combined with the injuries to Johnson and Kelly, he was always going to play in the past run of games. I don't believe that Kenny didn't have one eye on Wembley because everything points to Glen Johnson being saved for this game.

I would agree that a loan spell would help his development. But given the run of games he's had last season and this season, coupled with next season's schedule with Europe added in, I think there'll be plenty of opportunities for him to develop in the current set-up.

  • I think he is good enough, but not confident enough to play when a team had a bad run of results. he proved he was good enough (although not 100% consistent) last season with some good performances for a defender of his age. Even in the games I saw him in for the reserves he looked quite good.

  • Unless you were to loan him to another PL team he wouldn't get the experience he needs. Getting used to playing against this level of opposition is the only way to improve on what he already knows. Also, playing in a defensive line means learning to understand the other defenders and how they play. It's hard for youngs lads to go in and out of the team because they don't get to play long enough with the other defenders and build a playing relationship.

  • last night he had a 'mare and personally i didn't expect him to see the game out. Thought he'd be the one to see red!

But last night apart he's been a revelation, strong solid and dependable so lets not give him a hard time for his first and hopefully last disaster!!!!

  • Let's not pass any premature damning judgement on our young lad; he may yet turn out to be an Anfield legend in time to come
